Frances Duggan LCSW  -  Psychotherapist/Consultant

It is my privilege and my pleasure to assist individuals (children, adolescents and adults), couples, and families in addressing and resolving the effects of overwhelming experience in their lives.  I provide assistance in regard to a wide range of experiences from severely traumatic events to more commonplace life challenges. My areas of particular strength lie in the areas of PTSD (including complex PTSD and intergenrational trauma), dissociative disorders, fears and phobias, performance anxiety, grief and loss, death and dying, and non-pharmacological approaches to stress reduction and pain management.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years experience I have had the honor of working extensively with children, adolescents, and adults (including senior adults) within both the mental health and addiction fields. I have the privilege of working with significant numbers of individuals in the arts and from within LGBTQ communities and communities of color.  As well as being well versed in regard to traditional (or mainstream) psychotherapy, I have an enormous appreciation for alternative and complementary approaches to mental health care and possess training and experience in multiple modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), SE (Somatic Experiencing), NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Ericksonian Hypnosis, and Brainspotting.

As a graduate of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies' postgraduate Trauma Certification Program, and having had the honor of then serving as its Treatment Service Coordinator for Trauma/EMDR, I enjoy an ongoing affiliation with the program as well as membership in its professional association.

The only insurance plans that I currently accept are Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Medicare. (Reimbursement or partial reimbursement is available, however, through other insurance plans that offer out of network coverage.)

Special consideration in regard to fees and scheduling is given to those individuals and the families, including children, of those individuals who serve (or have served) in our armed forces or as civilian law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, or first responders.

I also possess significant prior experience in the development and oversight of mental health service delivery programs and the provision of mental health consultation services to individuals, groups, and schools.

Clinical supervision is available both for mental health professionals and for those preparing for social work licensure.

I maintain a private practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and can easily be contacted by calling 646-596-9112 or e-mailing
